Forfar Athletic v Linlithgow Rose
[Wednesday, 20 January 2016 09:16]
Forfar Athletic officials are still distraught this morning at the abandonment of the William Hill Scottish Cup Replay with Linlithgow Rose.
The floodlight failure was obviously out with the club’s control and was indeed the first such failure since floodlighting was first installed at the ground away back in 1972.
Once the problem was diagnosed last night by the club’s electrician, it was realised that an instant repair was impossible and consequently referee Stephen Finnie had no other option than to call the match off.
Following a further assessment of the problem this morning, discussions will be on going today with the SFA, Linlithgow Rose and the authorities in regard to a re-arranged date.
An update will be posted on the website later today in regard to the full match detail.
Discussions will also continue in regard to the crowd disorder at last night’s game which was another disappointing feature of the evening.
In the mean time we would again apologise to all in attendance last night and ask for their patience and understanding.
