Development Squad Quartet commit to Loon’s Cause

There was more good news on the signing front for Forfar Athletic officials last night when four of the club’s promising Development squad agreed to remain with the club for a further season.
Matthew Aitken a forward from Aberuthven, Dundee based midfielder Frankie Devine, defender Angus Mailer from St. Madoes and midfield player Murray MacKintosh originally from Ayrshire but studying in Dundee all committed their immediate future to the ‘Loons.’
All four were part of the club’s SPFL Development League East side last season who came so close to retaining the title they won in 2015/16.
Angus is the only one of the four who is short of his 18th birthday, but he reaches that milestone on Monday of next week.
All four have been participating in the first team’s pre-season training schedule and all will also be involved in the pre-season fixture schedule.
The ambition will be for all four of them to go on and emulate James Yates, Kerr Hay and Michael Kennedy all of whom came through the youth ranks at the club before gaining professional contracts, the latter two now an integral part of the current first team squad.
Certainly they will be given every assistance and encouragement from the Station Park coaching staff to achieve that ambition.
