MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Dundee United
[Monday, 04 July 2016 22:02]
The ‘Loons’ will have their strongest pre-season test to date on Tuesday evening when they entertain Dundee United at Station Park in what will be Ray McKinnon’s first public outing as the Tannadice side’s manager.
Gary Bollan’s troops already have vital game time under their belt, securing home wins over Raith Rovers and Brora Rangers to date. However as has been emphasised many a time it is gaining match fitness at this time of the season that is the main element, not necessarily the end result.
The home side are again likely to field most of their close season signings at some point of the proceedings, although the last of those eight, Marc Scott is nursing a slight injury from his final game in Carnoustie’s colours.
United recorded a 3-0 win over Cove Rangers in a closed doors fixture on Saturday past and it is likely that their new faces Cammy Bell, Stewart Murdoch, Lewis Toshney, Brett Long and Tope Obadeyi will be in their pool for the visit to Forfar.
Of course an immediate return to the Premiership is the aim of all concerned with the ‘Arabs’, whose competitive campaign begins with a visit to Gayfield on Friday week.
Tuesday night’s fixture has a 7.45p.m. kick-off and will be refereed by Premiership whistler Barry Cook.
Admission prices are £8 adults, £4 concessions.
Forfar Athletic season tickets are valid for this game and will be on sale in the 1984 Lounge from 7p.m. onwards.
The lounge itself situated at the west end of the main stand will be open from 6.30p.m till kick-off and supporters of both sides are welcome to enjoy a pre-match refreshment.
The club shop will be open before the game and during the half time interval.
Forfar Athletic fixture cards and a few team lines for the match will be available from the Club Shop, the Refreshment Kiosk and within the 1984 Lounge.
