MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Annan Athletic
[Monday, 12 December 2016 14:57]
The ‘Loons’ get an almost immediate opportunity to banish the ‘blues’ following their derby defeat on Saturday past when Annan Athletic arrive at Station Park on Tuesday evening as opponents in a re-arranged Ladbrokes League 2 fixtures.
A victory in the contest would also see the home side establish a five point lead at the top of the table over second placed Elgin City and a seven point gap over Arbroath, those two sides due to meet at Gayfield on Saturday first.
There were no new injury concerns following Saturday’s hard fought contest for the Athies. However Manager Gary Bollan may well make changes of the starting eleven with perhaps the fit again Andy Munro and Josh Peters in line for a recall.
Annan travel north sitting in fifth position in the league ten points adrift of their opponents, following their 2-0 home win over Cowdenbeath at the weekend, Steven Swinglehurst and Darren Ramsay their scorers.
This result went someway to erasing from the memory their 4-0 cup defeat at Formartine the previous week.
The rumour mill has it that a few of the Annan players may be struggling to make Station Park due to work commitments, but these stories have abounded and not borne fruit on many an occasion in the past.
The sides met at Galabank back in early September with the visitors coming out on top, the score line 2-1.
That afternoon Max Wright gave the home side a first half lead, second half counters from Andy Munro and Lewis Milne sealing a three point haul on the day for the ‘Loons’
Tuesday evening’s match which has a 7.45p.m. kick-off will be refereed by first season Grade One whistler Steven Reid.
Iain Bett despite the match being switched to a midweek date is still very kindly sponsoring the fixture.
Admission prices are £13/7 for the stand, £12/6 for the terracing.
No programme will be issued for this fixture.
The 1984 Lounge at the ground will be open from 6.30p.m. till kick-off, but not at half time or after the final whistle.
Finally and very importantly at this time of the year, the Club Shop will be open for business with a large range of Forfar Athletic themed merchandise available.
