Team News – Forfar Athletic – Matthew Aitken will join Eddie Malone, Scott McBride, Michael Kennedy and Marc Scott on the sidelines following his second half injury in last week’s contest with Alloa which saw the young striker spend Saturday night in Ninewells Hospital with neck and leg injuries, not to mention the after effects of concussion. Josh Peters who took a first half knock against the ‘Wasps’ will face a late fitness test. On the plus side, there are no suspension worries and Mark Millar will return after illness ruled him out last weekend.
Queens Park – Queens gaffer Gus McPherson is unlikely to make many changes to his starting line-up following what was by all accounts a spirited performance in defeat at Starks Park last Saturday. Irish youngster Aidan Kenna on loan from Hearts has created a big impression in the second half of the campaign.
Summary – The stated aim back in mid October of escaping relegation was achieved by the ‘Loons’ following last Saturday’s results and tremendous credit for that is due to Jim Weir and his staff and the attitude in particular of the players in the second half of the season. However despite the playing squad being stretched numerically, Jim Weir and his squad will be going all out to give the home fans who have given tremendous backing to the players through thick and thin this campaign a winning send off. They will also be keen to notch up a first victory over Queens this campaign and erase the memory of a very disappointing defeat from the ‘Spiders’ on their last visit on Christmas Saturday.
The visitors will of course be desperate for points as they strive to pip Albion Rovers for ninth position and with it a second chance for League 1 survival through the play-off route.
