Summary – The ‘Loons’ undefeated in three outings to date, though one never reads too much into pre-season results will face their stiffest test yet prior to competitive action resuming next midweek when Hearts are the most welcome visitors to Station Park on Saturday first. Manager Jim Weir will welcome back skipper Michael Travis who was absent on Tuesday past through business commitments to the ranks, while Gary Fraser will face a late fitness check. Michael Kennedy and Matthew Aitken are absentees. Obviously the home management team will be treating the fixture as ideal preparation for next Tuesday’s Betfred opener away to Championship outfit Falkirk.
Craig Levein has promised to bring a strong squad north for what will be the last of five pre-season jousts for the Tynecastle outfit. Following wins over Arbroath, Dumbarton and Partick Thistle, they lost 1-0 to Queen of the South on Wednesday evening.
Craig has in fact made eleven close season signings namely Steven MacLean (St. Johnstone), Uche Ikpeazu (Cambridge United), Bobby Burns (Glenavon), Jake Mulraney (Inverness Caley Thistle), Olly Lee (Luton Town), Ben Garuccio (Adelaide United), Zdenek Zlamal (F.C. Zin), Ryan Edwards (Partick Thistle), Oliver Bozanic (Melbourne City), Peter Haring (SV Ried) and Steven Naysmith who has returned on loan from Norwich City.
Quite a few are likely to feature in Saturday’s contest as the ‘Jambos’ prepare for Betfred ties away to Cove Rangers and Raith Rovers next week.
