Summary/team news – The ‘Loons’ head into their second successive home Saturday fixture in the Ladbrokes League 1 following a hard-fought if a slightly drab encounter with Stranraer last weekend.
Following Tuesday night’s Irn Bru exit, Jim Weir does not have his selection troubles to seek for the visit of the ‘Warriors’ who regained their League 1 status at the first attempt last season via the play-off route.
Skipper Michael Travis is out following his first half ankle injury at Livingston which will be further assessed this weekend, while Dylan Easton is unavailable as he serves a one-match ban following his red card in the cup tie. Dale Hilson who missed the midweek fixture faces a late fitness test on his back problem, while of course Matty Aitken is ruled out long term. Thankfully Lewis Moore and Aidan Wilson return to boost the squad.
Stenhousemuir have brought in twelve new faces in the close season including former Brechin City custodian Graeme Smith and Connor Duthie who had a spell on loan from Dunfermline at Station Park last term as well as Kevin O’Hara and Conor McBreaty within the last week on temporary transfers from Falkirk and St. Mirren respectively.
They began their league campaign with a 1-0 home win against Brechin, this being followed by defeats at Kirkcaldy and against Airdrieonians who were the visitors to Ochilview last weekend.
Matches between the sides in recent times have always been tight and there is no reason to suggest otherwise this coming weekend.
A three-point haul for the home side would be a welcome boost ahead of tough away fixtures against Raith and Arbroath before Brechin City are the visitors to Station Park in what is now our next home game in four weeks time.
