Summary – The ‘Loons’ head to Starks Park on Saturday, a ground where they were unlucky to lose on both visits last season to meet a Raith Rovers side who staged a remarkable comeback at Airdrie last Saturday, scoring three times in the last five minutes of the contest to secure a 4-3 win over the ‘Diamonds, this after Ian Davidson had been red carded for an off the ball incident. Striker Liam Buchanan was the Kirkcaldy side’s main match winner with a hat-trick.
Jim Weir’s side goes into the game on the back of a comfortable 2-0 home win over Stenhousemuir last Saturday, a result that meant the Forfar rearguard had not conceded a goal in a completed competitive fixture for the fourth game running. The pool has of course been depleted this week with the departure of Gary Fraser, but Dylan Easton is available to the manager having served his one-match suspension.
However, skipper Michael Travis is still sidelined and Dale Hilson is doubtful while Darren Whyte’s fitness will also be assessed prior to kick-off.
The management team have not given up hope of perhaps a new face being in the ranks come 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The trip over the Tay will no doubt be a stiff test of the ‘Loons’ credentials with Rovers now the only full-time side in the league.
Hopefully, a fair smattering of supporters will make the relatively short trip to Starks Park to give the lads their always appreciated backing.
