Summary – Following their 2-1 defeat down at Stranraer last Saturday, the ‘Loons’ return to Station Park action this Saturday with the much-anticipated visit of unbeaten runaway league leaders Arbroath.
Jim Weir’s and his players know that they will start the game as underdogs against Dick Campbell’s outfit but they will take great encouragement from their most recent highly impressive home league outings against Raith Rovers and Dumbarton.
With squad numbers limited, there is likely to be little change to the Athies starting line up for a contest which needs no build up with both sets of fans looking forward to the occasion for some time.
A Bobby Linn hat-trick set the ‘Lichties’ win in the corresponding fixture at Gayfield back in September and despite Arbroath netting five goals against Brechin City and Stenhousemruir in their last two league fixtures, the home side will take heart from the fact that Stranraer lowered the ‘Lichties’ colours in the cup two weeks back.
Hopefully, ninety minutes of derby match action to remember are in prospect for what is sure to be the home side’s largest home league attendance of the season to date.
