Summary – The ‘Loons’ head into their final league game of the season with still all to play for in the race to finish second in the Ladbrokes League 1 table.
However, the season is far from over with the first leg of the Play-Off Semi-Final due to kick off three or four days later.
Manager Jim Weir will have the difficult decision to make as to how he sets up his starting eleven for Saturday, although runners-up spot is still the first aim on the agenda. A few players may benefit from a rest in advance of the testing play-off formula while others notably Darren Whyte, Gary Irvine, Dylan Easton and John Baird were nursing knocks at the conclusion of last Saturday’s hard-fought derby win over Montrose.
Thomas Reilly also failed to make last week’s side with a knee injury picked up in training.
The Fifers have fallen out of the hunt for a playoff berth in dramatic fashion. Since losing to the Athies at Station Park in early March, Darren Young’s side has recorded only one victory a 3-1 home success over Stranraer, registering four draws and five defeats in the other nine matches completed.
They will nevertheless be all out to end their season with a three-point haul, especially in front of their own supporters.
Michael Travis and his colleagues will however also be out to end the league campaign with a positive performance and result to continue the momentum that has been so evident around the team and the club especially since the turn of the year.
They will also be looking to reward what looks likely to be once again a very reasonable travelling support.
