Forfar Athletic v Airdrieonians – match preview
[Friday, 20 November 2020 19:16]
The ‘Diamonds’ under the stewardship of Ian Murray make their first visit to Station Park since October of last year, as the home side attempt to get their first win of the season under their belt on match day five of the SPFL League One on Saturday afternoon.
Airdrie have had a mixed bag of results to date losing at home to Dumbarton on league business, then following that up with a thumping 5-0 win over Clyde, while in their only away fixture they lost out by the odd goal in three at Firhill.
As for the ‘Loons,’ the good news is that their injury situation is beginning to clear up slightly, with apart from long term ‘victims’ Michael Travis and Darren Whyte, the remainder of the squad managed to take at least some part in training on Thursday evening.
The fit players on the fringe of the first team starting line up in the two sojourns to Cove in recent weeks also got precious game time under their ‘belts’ in the bounce game against Arbroath Vics in midweek.
All going well Marc McCallum and Ross Meechan could be available for selection for the visit of the men from Lanarkshire, while Daniel Scally may require further assessment.
Stuart Malcolm’s side will undoubtedly be keen to start accumulating points, two away games next on the horizon against Peterhead and Clyde, their next three scheduled home games against the favourites for promotion, Partick, Cove and Falkirk.
Saturday’s man in the middle for the second game in succession at Station Park is Grant Irvine.
