Following the decision of the SPFL League One and Two clubs to go for a re-scheduled 22 match league programme, the full detail of which has still to be fully ratified and voted on, the league administration have taken the initial step of issuing revised fixtures for the first week of the new programme.
It looks as though the clubs will at the outset play catch up in a similar vein to the fixture list for the remainder of the second third of the original season in other words games that were scheduled to run from January 16th to March 6th with the ‘Loons’ opener being an away game at Dumbarton on March 20th followed by a visit from Falkirk seven days later.
Of course Forfar also have an away game with Clyde postponed in early December to fit into the schedule.
There are no midweek fixtures in League One on Tuesday the 23rd as the Scottish Cup second round fixtures are due to be played that evening, the Athies having already booked a third round spot in that competition following their victory in their last competitive fixture on January 9th against Linlithgow Rose.
Stuart Malcolm’s squad are likely to have to complete their remaining 14 league fixtures by the first week in May, including the four post split fixtures all going well, more detail to come in due course.
The Play-Offs for those involved well then follow into the middle of May month.
The ‘Loons’ will continue their preparations for the resumption of ‘hostilities’ with the friendly against Elgin City tomorrow, a match in which the manager is likely to give the vast majority of his squad including the six newcomers as well as a few trialsits a run out.
