Forfar Athletic v Clyde – match goes ahead
[Wednesday, 28 April 2021 17:03]
Despite the Covid related incident that ended with Clyde’s fixture with East Fife at Broadwood not going ahead amidst some confusion on Tuesday evening, the SPFL have confirmed to both clubs that at present, Thursday night’s clash at Station Park between the ‘Loons’ and the ‘Bully Wee’ will go ahead as scheduled with a 7p.m. kick-off.
The home side will go into the game still suffering no doubt from the ‘bitter pill’ of losing an 88th-minute goal at Dumbarton on Tuesday night, Connor Duthie’s strike, the only goal of the game-clinching a vital three-point haul for the ‘Sons.’
Once again the Athies squad could not be faulted for their effort over the ninety minutes, sadly coming up short in the goal creation and scoring department that has haunted them on many an occasion in this strange season.
There is no doubt however that Ross and his colleagues will continue to show their professionalism and an attitude to match in the three remaining games, a trip to Peterhead on Saturday followed by a visit from East Fife next Tuesday still on the ‘menu.’
Andy Munro was a late injury call-off at the C&G Systems Stadium, while Graeme Holmes had to settle for a seat on the bench as he was deemed not quite 100 per cent fit.
Gary Irvine may decide to ‘shuffle his pack for the visit of Danny Lennon’s side on Thursday evening, the third league encounter between the sides within a 22 day period.
The Broadwood outfit have recorded 3-0 and 3-1 victories in the previous two, the latter having taken place at Station Park only last week.
Duncan Williams the man in the middle tomorrow night is making his second visit of the month to Station Park having refereed the visit of East Fife on a snowy afternoon earlier in the month.
