Friday Night Football for the ‘Loons’

Forfar Athletic will not be back in Saturday afternoon action until January 8^th when Stranraer will be the visitors to Station Park.

Prior to that they will undertake a trio of games which will be played on a Friday night and on two successive Sunday afternoons.

First up is a fixture on Friday first at Ainslie Park in Edinburgh, the home of Spartans FC when Edinburgh City will provide the opposition in a cinch league2 fixture.

The ‘Citizens’ made a decision during the close season to play all their home league fixtures this term on a Friday night to see if they would receive more support from the Capital City football ‘family.’

The experiment has not been a roaring success it has to be said with in fact only 219 attending their last ‘home’ game with Annan Athletic.

To be fair to City they did hope to be back in their re-built Meadowbank Stadium home by November but confirmation of their move back to the new purpose built facility is still awaited.

For Athies fans meaning to head to Edinburgh on Friday night, the kick-off time is 7.45p.m.

Admission charges are £14 for adults, £9 concessions.   Under 12’s are given free entry if accompanied by a paying adult.

Following on from the clash with Gary Naysmith’s outfit, the ‘Loons’ will than host Stenhousemuir in a Boxing Day fixture on Sunday week, before heading north to Elgin seven days later, all going well and to plan for our opening fixture of 2022.
