PREVIEW
The ‘Loons’ will look to get back to winning ways when Stirling Albion are the visitors to Station Park on Saturday.
However, Albion will arrive in good heart having won their first home game since late September on Tuesday past, a 2-1 win recorded over Cowdenbeath.
Dale Carrick was the scorer of both the ‘Binos’ goals in that encounter, having also scored Stirling’s equaliser in the 1-1 draw with the Athies a month back, this after Craig Slater had given Forfar a first half lead on a Tuesday evening at Forthbank.
Gary Irvine’s charges found ‘concrete’ scoring opportunities hard to come by in the home clash with Elgin last weekend.
In fact, former ‘Loon’ Daniel Hoban in the visitors' goal had only a couple of saves of any note to make, the key moment in attacking sense for the home side coming in the final quarter when strong penalty claims as Scott Shepherd was impeded as he bore down on goal were waved aside.
The highlight of the contest against City was undoubtedly the first-half save from a close-range header by Marc McCallum which kept the Morayshire outfit at bay.
The home side’s injury problems do not improve.
Sam Fisher is ruled out for a few weeks following a training ground injury joining Steven Anderson and Jamie Ness in this regard, the word being awaited from his parent club Kilmarnock as to the likely availability or otherwise of Steven Warnock.
The ‘Loons’ now sit three points behind second-placed Annan Athletic albeit with a game in hand but a return to consistent winning performances must be on their radar as we reach the ‘business’ end of the campaign.
A three-point haul is certainly a realistic ask against Darren Young’s outfit who were beaten 2-0 on their last visit to Station Park in mid-December and currently sit seventh in the table.
As ever Ross Meechan and his colleagues will be well prepared and without doubt up for the task at hand.
Chris Fordyce who was last in charge of a ‘Loons’ fixture at Kelty, in November, is the man in the middle on Saturday.
Match Sponsor – Long term supporters of the ‘Loons’ cause, James F. Stephen Architects whose main base is out at Glamis are the match sponsors.
Hospitality Guests – Canmore Boolers, George Henderson Electrical, Dave Pearson & Friends
Saturday’s other cinch league 2 fixtures;- Annan Athletic v Elgin City, Kelty Hearts v Albion Rovers, Stenhousemuir v Edinburgh City, Stranraer v Cowdenbeath
