‘Loons’ head to Bonnyrigg on opening day

Forfar Athletic have been handed an opening-day visit to SPFL newcomers Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic managed by former Athies defender Robbie Horn.

A trip to New Dundas Park on 30th July was confirmed when the SPFL fixtures for the season ahead were released to clubs this morning.

That away fixture is then followed by home games against Stranraer and Elgin City on August 6th and 13th respectively.

With major changes in the fixture schedule especially at the Premiership level, there are actually eight cinch league2 fixture cards this time round prior to an international break over the last weekend in September and with it SPFL Trophy fixtures for the lower league outfits.

Looking further ahead Bonnyrigg will make their first visit to Station Park on November 12th.

Over the festive period, Ochilview and away game with Stenhousemuir will be the destination on Christmas Eve, while Elgin City will visit Station Park on January 2nd.

The 36-game league campaign comes to a close with a visit from East Fife on 6th May.
