[Friday, 27 January 2023 12:04]
After a two week break on the back of two excellent victories, it will come as no surprise to anyone that Ray McKinnon and his players are looking forward to getting back into match action at Cliftonhil tomorrow afternoonagainst an in form Albion Rovers side.
Ray is also able to report a fairly clean bill of health.
Tomas Brindley is available following the wrist injury he picked up earlier in the month at Annan, while a few other minor niggles have cleared up over the period of inactivity.
Darren Whyte obviously remains on the sidelines, while one player might require to be assessed pre-match.
Stefan McCluskey is an absentee disappointingly as he serves a one match suspension for breaching the six yellow card threshold in the first half of the campaign.
All five new faces introduced to the club by the management team in January namely Max Gillies, Adam Hutchinson, Finn Robson, Seb Ross and Darren Watson are in the squad that will head to Lanarkshire.
The home side managed by Brian Reid go into the fixture on the back of two remarkable 4-0 away wins over Bonnyrigg and Stranraer earlier in the month having also not had a competitive fixture last weekend.
Leading marksman and danger man Charlie Reilly with thirteen goals to his credit this term, netted a brace on both occasions, latest signing Joe Bevan from Camelon Juniors also getting on the score sheet.
Those six points saw Albion move into ninth spot in the table on 23 point mark, two behind the seventh placed Athies.
The ‘Loons’ have actually picked up all six points to date in the two clashes between the sides this season.
Goals from Matty Aitken and Kyle Hutton secured a 2-0 win at Coatbridge back in September, Ben Armour netting the only goal of a game the home side dominated at Station Park early last month.
Ray McKinnon though aware of the home side’s recent form is hopeful that the travelling support will be rewarded by a three point haul tomorrow, prior to a February month which sees three home games scheduled alongside a trip to Bonnyrigg.
The referee on Saturday Graham Beaton will be handling a Forfar fixture for the first time this campaign.
