Hectic Spell for ‘Loons’
[Wednesday, 15 March 2023 23:15]
With the confirmation of the re-arranged date for our fixture at Dumbarton, the Forfar Athletic management team and players will now embark this Saturday on a busy spell of five games in fifteen days.
After our home game this weekend against Annan Athletic, Forthbank Stadium is the venue for our midweek clash next Tuesday with Stirling Albion, prior to a return to the central belt four days later for a tussle with Stenhousemuir.
Then it is the Dumbarton away fixture on the 29th of the month, prior to Albion Rovers visit to Station Park as the month of April beckons.
A few supporters have queried as to why our game at Ochilview on Saturday week is going ahead on the Saturday at basically the same time as Scotland are entertaining Cyprus, although the Hampden clash kicks-off at 2p.m.
Decisions on the Championship, League 1 and League 2 fixtures originally scheduled for this date prior to the Scotland fixture date being announced by UEFA were left in the main with the host club.
Put simply like a handful of other SPFL clubs as well as the majority of Lowland and Highland League sides, the ‘Warriors’ were keen to stick with the Saturday afternoon slot.
‘Loons’ officials realise that a few of our regular travelling support are disappointed with this outcome and understand their position.
Back to the Athies fixture list for the remainder of the cinch league2 campaign and it now shapes up as follows;-
Saturday March 18 Annan Athletic home
Tuesday March 21 Stirling Albion away
Saturday March 25 Stenhousemuir away
Wednesday March 29 Dumbarton away
Saturday April 1 Albion Rovers home
Saturday April 8 Stranraer away
Saturday April 15 Elgin City away
Saturday April 22 Bonnyrigg Rose home
Saturday April 29 Stirling Albion away
Saturday May 6 East Fife home
