Thanks Again

Two home league wins on successive weekends for the first time this campaign brought the curtain down on the Station Park action for the season.
All present at yesterday’s game with Stranraer undoubtedly enjoyed the entertainment on offer, culminating in a richly deserved success for the ‘Loons.’
Indeed had it not been for the heroics of the visiting keeper, the victory margin could and possibly should have been much higher.
A big thank you yet again to the home support who have turned out in good numbers, especially since the turn of the year and have given the management and players excellent backing throughout.
The attendance figure was boosted at the final home game by members of the Forfar Athletic Community Trust Football Club and Forfar Farmington who were guests of the club and the youngsters certainly added to the atmosphere and without doubt the Refreshment Kiosk takings!
Thanks to our match sponsor Stuart McIntyre of Strathmore Potatoes for his continued support not only yesterday but also at many other club events throughout the campaign.
His party many friends from school days in the ‘toonie’ which was not yesterday one has to add seemed to thoroughly enjoy their day as always and they chose Stuart Morrison as their Player of the Match.
Daan Kiezebrink carried out the post-match presentation.
Thank you also to all four groups who enjoyed the delights of the Station Park Hospitality Experience on the day, all ‘weel kent’ faces it has to be said.
Firstly to George Henderson of George Henderson Electrical for his continued backing and to David Adam, Sandra Cargill and Gordon Patullo who as they have done on a fairly regular basis in recent times on the last home game date organised groups of friends to enjoy the food, refreshments and ambience of the occasion.
At this point, we would mention the fact that apart from a couple of occasions, due to late call-offs, the ‘house full’ sign has been posted as far as match sponsorship and match day hospitality are concerned throughout the season, a fact that is the envy of many SPFL clubs.
Forfar Athletic officials are so grateful for this continued support and to all concerned many thanks and hopefully ‘haste ye back.’
We could not be so successful in staging this important part of the match day function without the superb assistance of the group of voluntary match day hosts who thankfully have been boosted in numbers this term. Please take a bow and hopefully we can count on your return to ‘active service’ come August month.
A final and important thank you today.
Yesterday saw our long-time match day caterer Jennifer Girdwood prepare the lunches for the last time after a near twenty year stint, prior to a well-earned retirement.
Apart from the match day catering which has been so much appreciated by so many over time, Jennifer also provided the food at numerous other club functions including all twenty-six Sportsman’s Dinners that the club have staged since the mid-nineties.
At a short pre-match ceremony Honorary President David McGregor made a presentation on the club’s behalf to Mrs. Girdwood.
The season will now draw to a close on match day 36, this coming Saturday with a visit to Bonnyrigg on the ‘menu’ for the ‘Loons.’
