Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic v Forfar Athletic – Match Preview
[Friday, 27 September 2024 17:07]
As the conclusion of the first quarter of the league campaign gets ever nearer, the ‘Loons’ head to Bonnyrigg on Saturday hoping to build on last weekend’s victory over Stranraer.
At the same time the intention will be to record on the back of that first home success, a similar three point haul on their travels.
Manager Ray McKinnon is confident that if the squad show the same commitment and concentration levels at New Dundas Park as was evidenced on home ‘soil’ last Saturday a positive result can be recorded.
At the end of the day last Saturday’s success was well merited with Nathan Cannon and Blair Malcolm’s goals apart, a handful of other goal scoring opportunities created but not converted, a very pleasing feature of the ninety minutes, the way the side quickly put the loss of a poor goal defensively behind them and asserted their authority on proceedings.
There were also quite a few pleasing individual performances with Kieran Inglis a well deserved recipient of the sponsors man of the match award on the day.
Little if any changes are expected to be made to the starting line up for the trip to Midlothian, the first of two successive away days with a trip to Stirling on the horizon for Saturday week.
Adam Hutchinson sadly remains on the injury list but the match day squad is boosted by the welcome return of Finlay Allan to the ranks.
The home side much changed from last season playing personnel wise have made an excellent start to the season sitting currently on the ten point mark and in fourth place in the table, following three victories in their last four outings.
A Bradley Barrett counter in the 79th minute clinched a 2-0 win for Calum Elliott’s outfit at the Forthbank Stadium last Saturday, the Rose’s starting line up at Stirling including three of the four players recruited during the summer months from neighbours Tranent, opponents of the Athies during their Scottish Cup run last season.
Saturday’s fixture has the usual 3pm. kick-off.
Admission at New Dundas Park is by cash or card payment at the turnstiles on the day.
