Stirling Albion v Forfar Athletic – Match Preview
[Friday, 04 October 2024 16:52]
The ‘Loons’ head to the Forthbank Stadium on Saturday hoping to make it three wins in a row prior to yet another international break, following a home win over Stranraer and a three point haul on the road at Bopnnyrigg.
Manager Ray McKinnon however acknowledges it will be no easy task to secure a result against the ‘Binos’ who currently sit on the twelve point mark and in fourth place in the league table.
He is looking forward however to another tough test for his players who naturally approach the contest in confident mood.
The manager is still delighted with last Saturday’s performance at New Dundas Park, the eventual victory based on a real team effort with not a failure in the ranks at what is certainly not an easy environment to perform in.
He was also pleased with the quality of the winning goal completed by an instinctive shot from Nathan Cannon who is one of many who now seem to be fully settled in their role within the match day structure.
Adam Hutchinson will again be an absentee at Stirling, as will of course Jackson Mylchreest, but both could be back in the squad come the visit of East Fife on the 19th of the month.
The home side on Saturday go into the game on the back of a 2-0 win down at Stranraer last weekend, ther goals coming in the final minute of each half from Erik Sula and Adam Brown.
Former Athies favourite Dale Hilson entered the fray for Alan Maybury’s side as a late second half sub at Stair Park.
The ‘Loons’ will be hoping for a better return from the four matches this term against Albion than in the 2022/3 campaign when only one point was won from a goalless draw at Station Park.
The match referee handling a ‘Loons’ fixture for the first time will be Sean Murdoch now in his second season on the Grade One list.
Many Forfar fans will recall that Sean played just over thirty times in between the sticks for the club on loan from Dunfermline as a teenager back in 2005 and 2006.
The management and players were delighted with the support they received from the travelling fans at Bonnyrigg and look forward to similar backing on Saturday in the central belt.
