Everton To Come To Station Park!!!!
[Monday, 31 May 2010 01:00]
An Everton XI will come to Station Park to play Forfar Athletic in a pre season friendly.
Forfar Athletic will entertain what is hoped will be a strong Everton second string as part of their 125th Anniversary celebrations on Friday 23rd July with a 7.30p.m. kick-off.
The initial contact for the fixture came through the club's honorary patron Lord Lyell, a lifelong Everton shareholder and supporter who has contacts within the Goodison Park club.
The 'toffeemen' are heading north for a four night stay and will also play Clyde at Broadwood on Tuesday the 20th, Everton boss David Moyes and Clyde Director of Football Neill Watt, the former 'Loon' having been close buddies since their early days together at Celtic Park.
The Everton side which will be based in St. Andrews will be led by second string manager Alan Stubbs a legend both at Goodison and of course closer to home at Celtic Park.
According to Everton sources quite a few of the players heading north will also have been in Australia over the previous two weeks on a three match tour down under.
Everton have been renowned in recent years for producing superb young talent none more so of course than Wayne Rooney and from their present first team Jack Rodwell, so it likely that Forfar fans on the 23rd of July will have the opportunity of casting their eye over some Premiership talent of the future.
The club aim to put together a simplified hospitality package for the game which will take place at the end of the working week and also at the start of the traditional holiday fortnight, details hopefully available by mid June.
