Match Reports
It was a disappointing night on the road for the Loons with Airdrieonians picking up the three points in a 3-1 win at the Penny Cars Stadium.
An early own goal by Hamish Thomson saw the home side lead after only two minutes. Although Airdrieonians dominated much of the half the Loons were back level just two minutes before the break with a headed goal by Grant Anderson, his first for the Club. Daniel Scally with the assist.
Two late second-half strikes for the Diamonds (Gallagher 82' and Connell 90') sealed the win and leave the Loons with an uphill battle in the bid to avoid the relegation spots.
The Loons next league opponents, Clyde went down two-nil to Partick Thistle. The sides meet next Tuesday at Station Park in the last game before the split and the final four league games.
Attention now turns to the Scottish Cup Fourth Round tie vs Dundee United on Friday night. In normal times such a match would be a welcome distraction from league duties, with the added excitement of a live broadcast. However, with the hectic schedule of games, including the Clyde fixture a week tonight, it will be another tough challenge for Gary and the squad.
