2016 Golf Day
The Forfar Athletic FC Golf Day was held on Friday 19th August at Forfar Golf Club. The weather deteriorated somewhat over the course of the day and undoubtedly the competitors with the earlier tee off times were blessed with kinder playing conditions. However at the end of the day the winners from 2015 repeated the feat in 2016 proving at the same time they could score well whatever the Refreshments Tent and the weather threw at them.
1st place – Kingennie Associates - 91 Points – Doug Bett, Scott Jarron, Brian Binnie & Donald Smith.
2nd place – XL Group - 87 Points - Bruce Logan, Steve Smith, Mike Fergusson & Kevin Reilly.
3rd place – The B Team - 84 points – Iain Bett, Bruce Welch, Doug Smith & Stephen Higgins.
4th place – Hirepoint Garage - 83 points – Ewan Callander, Ian Nicoll, Graham Brown, & Ewan Wilson.
5th place – Forfar Golf Club – 80 points (better inward half) – Roy Johnston, Fraser Henderson, Sandy Lumsden, & Ian Farquhar
6th place – MMG Archbold – 80 points – Derek Grant, Graeme Loudon, Paul Lothian & Gerry MacCrossan.
Individual prizes were won by Steve Smith, Brian Binnie, Keith Douglas, Ewan Wilson, Stuart Graham, Kevin Hay, Nick Barr & Ian Letham.
A new challenge was introduced this year - Beat the ‘Pro’- with Stuart Wilson the Forfar Golf Club Managing Secretary and then Ian Flaherty from the Football Club Coaching team taking on all comers at nearest the hole on the 16th. Over the course of the day the two showed great consistency and were only beaten three times. Stuart took the task very much to heart achieving a hole in one made all the sweeter by scoring the ace against the Forfar Golf Club Team.
