Third successive win for Development team

The ‘Loons’ recorded a 3-1 win over table topping Berwick Rangers in an SPFL Development League East fixture at Station Park last night, taking their tally to nine points from their last three outings.
After a hold up to proceedings when the match referee took ill prior to kick-off, it was the home side that raced into a two goal lead.
Visiting keeper Grant Goodfellow upended Matthew Aitken just inside the box on the six minute mark and the striker duly dusted himself down to net from the spot.
Three minutes later and it was Max Avollio who netted from close range from a pinpoint Jamie Gill cross.
The visitors reduced the leeway in the 26th minute, Kyle Scott the scorer taking advantage of slack work by the home side in their own penalty box.
Jim Lister, one of two over age players in the home ranks subsequently netted number three, four minutes before the half time whistle with a ferocious left foot shot from 16 yards into the roof of the net.
That as it turned out was the end of the scoring, the highlight of the second half a superb save by Jason King from a 20 yard thunderbolt on the hour mark.
That apart the second period was a mixture of ‘joy and despair’ in the home ranks.
The return to action after his lengthy lay off of Michael Travis from the substitutes bench was tempered somewhat by a hamstring tweak suffered by Jim Lister which hopefully will not rule him out for selection on Saturday week.
