Festive Period Fixtures

A reminder to ‘Loons’ fans that our two fixtures over the Festive Period will take place on Boxing Day and on Monday the 2nd of January.
Clyde will be the visitors to Station Park on Boxing Day for a top of the table clash, one of only three senior games taking place in Scotland that particular afternoon.
The other two games are Dunfermline Athletic v Falkirk in the Championship, while Peterhead will entertain Stenhousemuir in League One.
The Premiership clubs have a full card spread over Friday the 23rd and Christmas Eve, while the remainder of the clubs in the three leagues below have decided to stick with the Christmas Eve option.
This does seem strange when one considers that traditionally for many a year, Boxing Day fixtures have seen an increase in attendances at all levels.
One would also imagine it is easier to attract customers for hospitality etc on the Boxing Day option as we have found.
To be fair to the Premiership clubs, they also have a full card on Wednesday the 28th and on Hogmanay, this prior to their three week winter break.
Over the New Year weekend, five fixtures in the lower leagues have been moved to the 2nd of January option.
Apart from our long trip to Elgin, there will also be an Angus derby at Gayfield with Montrose under Stewart Petrie as the visitors.
Brechin City will also be at home to Peterhead in League 1, sharing the spotlight with the Airdrieonians v Albion Rovers clash.
A large crowd will undoubtedly be the case at Starks Park for the Fife derby between Raith Rovers and Dunfermline Athletic in the Championship.
