MATCH PREVIEW: Annan Athletic v Forfar Athletic
[Tuesday, 09 May 2017 17:20]
Annan Athletic and the ‘Loons’ go head to head for the second time in four days at Galabank on Wednesday night in the first leg of the League One Play-Off Semi Final.
All Athies fans will be hoping that their team can somehow or other over the next ten days re-discover their form of earlier in the campaign.
Three wins in the last three months of the season does not make good reading and there is no disputing that fact or the disappointment felt by all at the club in regard to the eventual outcome of the title race.
We do however have a second chance through the play-off route.
Forfar head south with no fresh injury worries and the players re-grouped at a Station Park training session on Monday night, going through a light workout under the supervision of the coaching staff.
The home side are certain to make changes to their starting line-up from Saturday when a few first team regulars were ironically rested in preparation for the play-off fixtures.
Jim Chapman’s side have had a great second half of the season and would appear rightly to be the pundits favourites going into the tie.
There is no doubt however that there is enough talent in the Station Park ranks to succeed over the two legs, if only elementary mistakes can be eradicated.
A tough 180 minutes minimum of action lies in front of both sets of players who will surely all be up for the task in front of them with the prize a place in next week’s two legged final.
Wednesday’s fixture kicks-off at 7.45p.m. the second leg due at Station Park on Saturday first.
Premiership match official Crawford Allan is the man in the middle, the first time the Edinburgh based referee will have handled a ‘Loons’ game this season.
