Albion Rovers v Forfar Athletic Preview
[Thursday, 02 November 2017 14:43]
The ‘Loons’ head to Coatbridge on Saturday no doubt buoyed by their much improved performance against Raith Rovers last Saturday.
The hard fought and deserved point that the team gained at Station Park against the league leaders though came at a cost. Marc Scott in the first half and Mark Millar in the second picked up injuries which will definitely rule them out for a few weeks starting with the Cliftonhill outing.
On the plus side Eddie Malone will hopefully be passed fit but the other long term injury victims Simon Mensing and Jim Lister remain sidelined.
Albion Rovers will also be minus two players from last Saturday’s starting line-up against Airdrie following red cards issued during that game to Jason Marr and Scott McLaughlan.
That match ended in a 2-2 draw, Alan Trouten a prolific scorer for the Rovers this term on the score sheet as he was when they picked up the points at Station Park back in August courtesy of a 2-0 success.
Albion currently sit fifth in the table on the sixteen point mark, but surprisingly they have only recorded one of their five victories to date on home soil, that against Raith Rovers a few weeks back.
Jim Weir brought a couple of the younger players in his squad namely Murray MacKintosh and Michael Kennedy into his starting eleven against Raith as well as giving a debut to loan signing Conner Duthie and it could well be the case that a couple more may find themselves at least on the bench this time round.
Forfar will go into the game in good heart, but will be aware that the Lanarkshire venue has never been a particularly happy hunting ground in recent times, especially our last visit back in April of 2016.
Saturday’s referee is the vastly experienced John McKendrick.
