Team News – Alloa Athletic – The ‘Wasps’ will probably be along similar lines to last weekend when they defeated promotion chasing Ayr United 2-1 at Somerset Park, Jamie McCart signed on loan from Celtic in the January window and Ross Stewart their goal scorers. Jordan Kirkpatrick from St. Mirren and Callum Smith from Dunfermline Athletic were their other January signings both on temporary transfer arrangements. The ‘Loons’ defenders will be wary of the threat of Kris Renton who netted both Alloa’s counters at Station Park in December.
Forfar Athletic – The game will probably come to quick for the still sidelined Dale Hilson, while news is awaited from his parent club St. Mirren on Darren Whyte’s progress. Manager Jim Weir may decide to give starting berths to the experienced duo of Mark Millar and Eddie Malone who both returned to action in the second half last Saturday from the subs bench. No suspensions to contend with this week, but sadly following Michael Travis and Andy Munro’s yellow cards in the latter stages of the Airdrie fixture, this will not be the case for the visit of Stranraer on the 17th of the month.
Summary – Following last Saturdays’ results, it would appear now that the Station Park outfit are in a three way battle with Albion Rovers and Queens Park to avoid the bottom two spots which bring with them relegation and a League 2 play-off spot respectively. Any reward from what has not been a happy hunting ground in recent times for the ‘Loons’ will be a bonus in the fight for a minimum eighth spot in the table come April 28th.
