Summary – Forfar Athletic who got back to winning ways at Ochilview last Saturday welcome second in the table Raith Rovers to Station Park on Saturday. Earlier in the campaign in what turned out to be surprisingly Barry Smith’s final game in charge of Rovers, the Kirkcaldy side triumphed 4-0 over a disappointing ‘Loons’ side on the day, although it would be fair to say that the eventual scoreline flattered the home side ever so slightly.
With Matthew Aitken and Michael Kennedy both sidelined and Andy Munro still a doubt, manager Jim Weir is likely to make few if any changes to last week’s line-up and certainly it is more than likely that he will again have only seventeen players at his disposal.
Rovers now under the management for the second time of the experienced John McGlynn come to Station Park on the back of a 2-1 home win over Stranraer, this after they had shared the spoils with leaders Arbroath in a hard fought 1-1 draw on their previous outing. The main threat for Rovers comes from Lewis Vaughan and Scott Nisbet, the former ruled out by injury last week as was former Station Park midfielder Lewis Milne who moved to Kirkcaldy in the summer from Montrose.
They will be without the suspended Euan Murray on Saturday after his red card last weekend.
The Athies were particularly impressive in the first period against the ‘Warriors’ last Saturday and if they can maintain that form over the full ninety minutes this coming Saturday there is no reason why home fans should not hope for a repeat of the victory against Raith at Station Park in March of this year. That performance was one of the ‘Loons’ best of last campaign, so go for it again lads.
