Summary – The ‘Loons’ return home after a four week absence when they welcome an Airdrieonians side under the management of Ian Murray to Station Park this Saturday.
Jim Weir’s side go into the fixture unbeaten in their last five league outings, three of which have been on foreign territory, the last two of which have yielded four points against the sides currently in first and second position in the Ladbrokes League 1 table.
The manager also has no major injury worries to contend with although there were a few minor knocks to deal with after the Raith fixture.
Four of the Station Park new faces since the turn of the year will be in the squad for Saturday’s encounter including Gary Irvine and Cedwyn Scott signed earlier this week. Brad Spencer will again be missing as he serves the second game of his two match suspension following his Gayfield red card.
Airdrie head north sitting six points behind their opponents following a 2-2 home draw with Dumbarton last week, their goal scorers Daryl Duffy and Leighton McIntosh.
The ‘Diamonds’ made two signings in the January window, Josh Campbell on loan from Hibernian, Declan Glass adjudged man of the match last week on a similar arrangement from Dundee United.
Both games between the sides this season have had late drama to say the least. Airdrie netted three goals in the closing twelve minutes to seal victory at Station Park back in early August, while Forfar picked up all three points courtesy of an 82nd minute strike from John Baird in Lanarkshire in November.
An entertaining ninety minutes are hopefully on the cards this weekend as the ‘Loons’ play the first of six successive games in Angus.
Hopefully there will be a reasonable turnout from the Athies support which has been in such fine voice, a fact appreciated and commented on by the players in particular both home and away over the past couple of months.
