Summary – The ‘Loons’ head to Ochilview on Saturday requiring one point to finally confirm their playoff status. They also know that a win over the ‘Warriors’ would put them clear in second place with Raith not playing till Sunday.
Undoubtedly that scenario would put pressure on the Rovers players in their Gayfield clash with the champions as they battle it out with Jim Weir’s side for the coveted runners-up spot.
Michael Travis and his colleagues will know however that they will have to improve on last Saturday’s performance to pick up the three points against the home side who have picked up seven points from their last three games.
A 2-1 win at Dumbarton was followed by a 1-1 draw at home to Raith Rovers before a goal from top scorer Mark McGuigan sealed all three points in the Saturday evening televised contest at Airdrie.
The Athies head for Stirlingshire it would appear once again injury free, but the manager will undoubtedly be hoping for more sharpness from midfield and up front than has been evident in the past two weeks.
He may well decide to freshen up his starting eleven with a few eager fringe players waiting in the ‘wings.’
All teams suffer blips at the best of times, but certainly, all connected with the Station Park outfit will be hoping for a return to winning ways as we really do reach the ‘business’ end of the league campaign.
By all accounts, a larger than normal travelling support would appear to be heading to the central belt, a fact no doubt much appreciated by the ‘Loons’ players.
Let’s hope we can make it a real team effort on the day!
