Last Game of the Decade

Station Park will not only host the ‘Loons’ final game of 2019 on Saturday first, but also their final game of the decade.
Hopefully, it will be a match to remember and there is no reason why not as Stuart Malcolm’s side clash with Stewart Petrie’s Montrose outfit for what will be remarkably already the fifth clash this season between the sides.
Honours are currently even at two wins apiece, but of course, at present the ‘Gable Endies’ sit eight points ahead of the Athies in the Ladbrokes League 1 table.
Saturday’s game has the usual 3 p.m. kick-off and with no Premiership fixtures on the day and the big Dundee derby clash scheduled for Friday evening, both clubs will be hoping for a reasonable turnout on the day.
A full preview of the fixture will be published on FAFC media outlets on Boxing Day.
Incidentally, the ‘Loons’ first home game of the current decade was in fact delayed by a couple of weeks due to the wintry weather around the festive period time in the 2009/10 season.
Eventually on the Monday evening of January 18th, 2010 Station Park played host to a Scottish Cup tie against St. Johnstone, the Perth side triumphing by 3-0 in front of a crowd of 1,449.
It was, in fact, Forfar’s first competitive fixture since December 12th.
The home side’s line up that wintry January evening was;- Ally Brown, Mark McCulloch, Iain Campbell, Martyn Fotheringham, Andy Tod, Stephen Tulloch, Kevin Gordon, David Mowat, Chris Templeman, Ross Campbell, Graham Gibson
Subs – Kevin Fotheringham, Nicky Smith, Bryan Deasley, Callum Smith & Matthew Curtis
