Sportsman’s Dinner
[Saturday, 22 February 2020 12:30]
Once again club officials are delighted with the early response from previous patrons in regard to the Annual Sportsman’s Dinner due to be held in the Reid Hall on Friday 22nd May.
However there is at least one table of ten perhaps two available or as they say up for grabs at present.
This will be the 25th Dinner staged by the club and the three speakers in keeping with that anniversary are a mixture of the new, the old and an added nostalgic note to boot.
Making his Reid Hall debut will be former Celtic, West Ham united and Scotland striker Frank McAvennie now a ‘weel kent’ face on the After Dinner circuit.
Making a return visit will be Yorkshire based raconteur/comedian John Stiles, the son of World Cup winner Nobby who was such a hit when he appeared at the event some twelve years back.
Finally the nostalgic note is provided by George McNeill, the former World Professional Sprint Champion and footballer who was one of three speakers alongside Emil Pacholek and David Sole at the very first Dinner back in May of 1996. Twenty five years on George is still in demand as one of the country’s top After Dinner entertainers.
The ever popular Carnoustie based architect Rodger Brunton will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
The price for a table of ten is pegged at £425 and this includes a three course meal.
