Forfar Athletic 0 East Fife 1

‘Loons’ fans suffered a dismal ninety minutes at Station Park yesterday afternoon as East Fife ‘cemented’ their play-off credentials with a 1-0 victory, to be fair without having to be at their best.
It was a contest fairly bereft of moments to remember and in the main low on quality.
The match as it turned out was settled by a first-minute goal for Darren Young’s side.
The home defence was caught napping as former ‘Loon’ Danny Denholm bundled the ball over the line from a left-wing Ryan Wallace corner.
The Athies one moment of note in the remainder of the half came when home debutant Mark McKenzie cracked a 16-yard drive off the crossbar, Callumn Morrison shooting just over the bar at the other end from a good position right on the half-time whistle.
The second half action did little to warm up the spectators as temperatures plummeted, Forfar creating few if any clear cut chances, although Connor Coupe when introduced to the fray added some ‘spice’ to the attack.
Marc McCallum too was relatively untested, completing saves that he would normally anticipate making from Slattery, Wallace and Dowds.
The ‘Loons’ are back in action on Tuesday evening with a tricky trip to Dumbarton.
Forfar lined up on Saturday as follows;- McCallum, Bain, Coll(Aitken), Meechan, Whyte, Irvine, McKenzie, Tapping, Dorris, Kirkpatrick(Leitch), Barr(Coupe)
Subs not used – Robertson, MacKintosh, McGuff
