Summary – The ‘Loons’ head for Kirkcaldy on Saturday to meet league leaders Raith Rovers in the opening game of the final quarter of the league campaign.
They do so sitting precariously in ninth position in the League 1 table with what all involved in the club realise is an unacceptable one win from eight fixtures in the calendar year to date.
They will, however, travel with some hope as they have recorded hard-fought draws with John McGlynn’s men in their last two league jousts, the second of those only eight weeks back at Station Park when in fact the Athies led for over an hour of the contest, prior to John Baird’s equaliser for Rovers.
It is not difficult to see where Forfar’s main problem lies with only five goals scored since the turn of the year and a miserly twenty five in total from the twenty seven games played.
Amazingly nine of those came in three consecutive games in December!
Manager Stuart Malcolm will be considering all his options for the Starks Park encounter with one or two changes likely following on Tuesday night’s 2-0 reverse at the C&G Systems Stadium.
The home side who also have the Tunnocks Challenge Cup Final to look forward to at the end of the month drew 1-1 in their top of the table clash with Falkirk on Tuesday evening, having also lost 1-0 to Dumbarton last weekend.
Certainly a tough and challenging ninety minutes lie ahead for the ‘Loons’ squad, but there is no reason whatsoever that they cannot rise to that challenge and give the fans who decide to make the journey over the silvery Tay something to shout about.
