Loons Lottery Suspended
[Saturday, 21 March 2020 11:46]
The decision has been taken reluctantly especially as the ‘grand old’ fundraiser is in its final weeks to temporarily suspend the Loons Lottery.
This decision has been taken in regard to following Government guidelines especially in relation to the mechanics of making the draw.
Apart from the social distancing aspect, the volunteers who turn up religiously on a Monday evening are in the main of pension plus age.
There is also the threat provided by the handling of the tickets while checking the numbers and the coinage handling aspect.
The Lottery will resume and be ‘played out’ to a fitting finale once everyday life returns to some sort of normality with the checking of the current batch of tickets sold over the past week and hopefully a lucky winner of the prize of £2,500
If not it will proceed at that juncture along the normal road to the eventual £3,000 jackpot.
Lottery supremo Dennis Fenton and club officials apologise for this situation but trust all patrons and supporters will understand the position.
