Forfar Athletic officials in these strange times have made a new appointment with Hampshire based Barry Stevens appointed as the club’s Honorary Official Historian.
Barry and his father have been supporting the ‘Loons’ from afar for over 40 years, this first of many visits to Station Park back in the late seventies resulting in the scheduled fixture that afternoon being postponed due to snow and ice.
Thankfully since then, they have seen their adopted side play many a time on home ‘soil’ as well as at other venues throughout the country.
During his time as a fan, Barry has also spent hours and hours in fact days and days, researching the club’s history and has an amazing array of statistics available to him right from 1885 to the present time.
Apart from contributing on a regular basis to the match programme over the years, club officials have called on Barry’s services on numerous occasions to answer requests from other clubs, relatives of former players, managers etc in regard to personal appearances, club records and many other queries.
They felt therefore that the time had come to officially recognise his efforts and unstinting support with the appointment as Club Historian and thankfully Barry was delighted and honoured to accept the position.
Barry’s details will be added to the information page on the club website, making him readily available to any supporter who may wish to make contact.
