Curtain Falls on Loons Lottery
[Tuesday, 25 August 2020 09:54]
The final draw of the Loons Lottery took place at Station Park last night.
In some respects sadly no one managed to win the £3,000 prize on offer outright by selecting the six correct numbers.
However, in the previously intimated revised rules for the final draw, fourteen participants who picked five of the six correct numbers won £215 each.
Those final winners names are published in a separate article.
It is the end of another era at Station Park the lottery in its tried and trusted format having been running for 22 years.
There was certainly a tinge of sadness from the regular checkers from the club and beyond who have turned out in all weathers in recent years on a Monday evening to see the end of what had become something of a local institution over the years.
They will without a doubt miss the camaraderie and banter week on week.
Sadly however time had caught up with the format and tickets sales had reached a level where the parent body was in fact not even breaking even on occasions.
Over the years a diverse range of local clubs and organisations have acted as agents for the lottery, benefitting financially and all at Forfar Athletic would like to put on record their thanks for this support and wish them all well for the future.
A special word of thanks to those who did the checking week on week.
Special praise, however, has to go to the organisers of the Lottery.
Mike and Helen McEwan were the original pillars of strength, Dennis Fenton taking over the reins around ten years back.
The Directors of Forfar Athletic throughout that period have been eternally grateful to you for all the time, effort and hard work you all put in to keep the well ‘oiled machine’ ticking over.
Finally to all those who have supported the lottery over the years by purchasing tickets, your support has been greatly appreciated.
The men who made the lottery ‘tick’.
