Falkirk v Forfar Athletic – match preview
[Friday, 23 October 2020 14:09]
The ‘Loons’ head to the Falkirk Stadium on Saturday for their second SPFL League 1 fixture of the campaign where they will go head to head with a home side whom the bookmakers rate as one of the two main favourites for the title come early May.
Forfar will, however, travel in good heart following their opening day share of the spoils with the ‘Sons,’ this after they had dominated the early part of the proceedings.
They will also head to the central belt with the same twenty man pool as last weekend, although BJ Coll may require a late fitness check.
Sadly Darren Whyte it would appear has some cruciate ligament damage which will see him join Steven Anderson and Michael Travis on the long term injury list, while Mark Hill is still fighting to regain fitness, Kyle Dalling’s return to training still delayed at present.
The home side began their league fixtures with a 3-1 win at Links Park last Saturday following a 3-0 reverse at Dunfermline and a 2-1 win at home against Clyde in Betfred fixtures.
Amongst around ten new faces donning the ‘Bairns’ colours this season are former Hearts duo Aidan Keena and Callumn Morrison, Blair Alston signed from Hamilton Accies and Anton Dowds who made the move from East Fife.
The Falkirk Stadium was not a happy hunting ground for the Athies last term, a 3-0 defeat in September, being followed by a 6-0 thumping in January.
Hopefully, a rosier outcome will be on the cards on Saturday with a local derby at home to Montrose in the offing for the following weekend.
Steven Kirkland will be Saturday’s man in the middle.
