Scottish Cup

Forfar Athletic along with all the clubs in the SPFL Championship and League One enter the revamped Scottish Cup this season at the second round stage with ties due to be staged on Saturday, January 9th.
Despite the fact that in these strange times, the final of the 2019/20 tournament only took place on Sunday past, two preliminary rounds of this season’s competition have already taken place culminating in wins for Formartine United and Wick Academy in re-arranged ties on Monday evening of this week.
Forty teams will therefore compete in the first round proper this coming weekend, with the ten SPFL League Two clubs entering the fray.
Interestingly all ten have been drawn against non-league opposition with our near neighbours Brechin City due to entertain Linlithgow Rose on Boxing Day.
The only other Tayside interest lies with Perth based East of Scotland League side Jeanfield Swifts who have to say the least a tough away tie at Kelty Hearts.
Nineteen of this weekend’s ties are scheduled for Boxing Day, the exception the clash of Dundonald Bluebell and Queens Park due to be played at New Central Park, Kelty on Monday evening of next week with live coverage on the BBC Scotland channel.
The second round draw is scheduled to take place at some stage over this coming weekend, confirmation to follow.
