Kevin Brown

We are sure that many Forfar Athletic supporters were devastated yesterday when the news broke of the sudden death at his home in the ‘toonie’ of Kevin Brown.
Kevin was a lifelong fan of the club having been a season ticket holder from his days as a primary schoolboy in the town back in the mid to late seventies.
That love of the club continued even when he moved to Reading for some years when he kept in constant touch with club affairs and even made the long journey north on many occasions to see his beloved ‘Loons’ in action.
He was the prime mover and editor and main salesman of the ‘Loonatics’ fanzine which was launched in the early nineties and unlike many fanzines of the time, it often painted the club in a realistic and reassuring manner.
He was also a regular contributor over time to the clubs’ official programme and in fact, during his period living in Berkshire received a copy on subscription.
In recent times apart from being a regular in his accustomed spot on the north terracing, he was also part of the ‘Loonatics’ group who enjoyed a matchday hospitality outing on the last day of the season year on year and was also mine host to a group of his work colleagues sampling the 1984 Lounge package on a regular basis.
It is another sad loss to the club, not the first in these recent troubled times it has to be said.
The Directors of Forfar Athletic would like to pass on their condolences to Kevin’s father Bob, sister Michelle, the remainder of his family and his many friends and colleagues at this so sad time.
