Craig's cinch League Two Award

Everyone at Station Park was delighted with the news that midfielder Craig Thomson has been selected as the cinch League 2 player of the month for October.
Twenty six year old Craig played an important part in the Loons' successful run of games in October, scoring two goals. The midfielder has shown not only great skill and composure in front of goal but also dogged determination. This was most obviously demonstrated by his goal at Stranraer - a driving run was followed by a great finish. All despite being injured and waving away any suggestion from the bench of being substituted shortly before he netted.
Kirkcaldy born Craig joined the Loons from Airdrieonians earlier in the summer having started his career at St Johnstone and featuring in the Perth side's match day squad for the Scottish Cup win in 2014.
Craig has been an almost ever present in the Loons cinch League 2 starting eleven this season, only missing last week's encounter against Elgin City due to the aforementioned knock he picked up at Stranraer. He has also featured in all of the Club's Cup fixtures.
Craig's teammates are delighted by the award. Club Captain Ross Meechan speaking on behalf of the players said "I'd like to say a huge congratulations to Thommo who deserves this award for his performances, assists and goals lately. He’s contributed in some way in every game and has been our main threat in recent weeks. Thommo gives us a great outlet and his work rate is never in question. It’s a huge well done from all the boys. And hopefully not the last for someone in this strong squad!"
Manager Gary Irvine was also quick to congratulate his player. “Craig really deserves the player award, he’s been excellent not just last month but from the start of the season." said Gary. "He has consistently delivered strong performances and scored two important goals during October. But it must have been a hard choice as there are at least two or three players from my squad who could have been selected due to their tremendous efforts during the month.”
Depite Craig's success in winning the cinch award he agrees with his manager's comment about the quality of his teammates and the spirit in the Forfar squad. "It's great to win this award but it could have gone to a number of players in the team. We have gelled well and it's been a real team effort" commented Craig. "I have a good partnership going with Ross Meechan playing in behind me on the right side and Craig Slater in midfield has shown good vision with his passing and the defence and strikers have been doing their bit. All I can do is put the ball in the box for them as often as possible for them to put the ball in the net."
Craig is looking to put the ball in the net himself a few more times for the Loons this season. He is already on his record goal tally for a season of three goals and has a target of more than double that in mind. All Loons supporters will be hoping that goal haul increases for Craig and his teammates against Kelty tomorrow in the top of the table clash.
In the meantime huge congratulations to Craig on this merited award from everyone at the Club.
