Ex Killie defender signs up for the season

On the eve of their opening home competitive game of the season, Gary Irvine completed the signing on a one-year contract of 20-year-old defender Tarek Abed.

Airdrie-based, Tarek has been training with the ‘Loons’ for the past few weeks and played a part in their pre-season friendly fixtures.

He was a member of the Kilmarnock youth team which won the Scottish Youth Cup three seasons back and consequently signed a new professional contract at Rugby Park.

He was released by the new management team at Killie in May and now begins a new era in his career with the Athies.

As long as all paperwork is approved this morning, he will go straight into the squad for the visit of Hamilton Accies to Station Park.
