Premier Sports Cup Saturday 23 July 2022 Kilmac Stadium at Dens Park
Dundee finished top of Group H and secured a seeded spot in the last 16 draw of the Premier Sports Cup with a 5-1 victory over the Loons.
First-half goals from Alex Jakubiak, who scored twice in quick succession, along with goals from Niall McGinn and Tyler French put Dundee well ahead by the interval.
The second half saw an improved Loons but on 66 minutes substitute, Lyall Cameron made it five for Dundee. Two minutes later a well-worked goal gave the Loons a consolation goal. Substitute Matty Aitken found Stefan McCluskey in space and the striker looped the ball over Dundee's defence into the goal. Ten minutes later McCluskey almost grabbed a second when his header clipped the post.
The Loons defended resolutely in the second half with Marc McCallum pulling off a number of great saves. In the middle of the park Craig Slater, half-time substitute Callum Moore and McCluskey linked up well but couldn't reduce the deficit and the game ended with a comfortable win for an impressive Dundee side.
