Elgin City v Forfar Athletic – match preview
[Friday, 14 October 2022 12:05]
The ‘Loons’ head to Elgin on Saturday obviously keen to get back to winning ways after slumping to the bottom of the cinch league2 table following last weekend’s dismal defeat from East Fife.
Thankfully there is some good news for all concerned with a handful of the players sidelined in recent weeks having resumed training during the course of the week.
How many will be involved at Boroughbriggs is uncertain and on the down side Craig Slater and Craig Thomson have had treatment all week following injuries sustained against the Fifers.
Again it is hoped one if not both might be fit for action come 3p.m. on Saturday.
Elgin moved into the play-off places after a Jake Dolzanski goal give them a midweek 1-0 success at home to Albion Rovers.
City have to say the least a few Station park connections with Gavin Price and Jim Weir in the dugout, while four of Tuesday’s night’s squad had previous playing experience with the ‘Loons.’
Earlier in the campaign the sides fought out a 2-2 draw in the Station Park sunshine, the visitors the happier outfit at the conclusion of a match which saw them play with ten men for fifty minutes after Brian Cameron was shown a red card.
Leading marksman Kane Hester netted the opener for City in the 5th minute that afternoon, Matty Aitken netting the equaliser from the spot with five minutes of the half remaining.
Russell Dingwall restored the visitors lead midway through the second period from the spot, Ben Armour netting the equaliser with eight minutes left to play.
Saturday will be the first of three successive away days for Gary Irvine’s side and there is no reason if the form on the day is similar to the last away day at Coatbridge some four weeks back that a reward cannot be reaped from the long trip north.
First season Grade One official Alex Shepherd who took charge of our Betfred tie at home to Hamilton Accies in July is the man in the middle on Saturday.
Admission prices are confirmed as £15/10 for the stand, £13/8 for the terracing. Under 16’s accompanied by a paying adult will be admitted foc.
Saturday’s other cinch league2 fixtures are;-Annan Athletic v Stranraer, Bonnyrigg Rose v East Fife, Dumbarton v Albion Rovers, Stenhousemuir v Stirling Albion
