Sportsman’s Dinner
[Monday, 12 June 2023 22:51]
The club held what was their 26th Sportsman’s Dinner in the Reid Hall on Saturday evening.
Due to varying and understandable circumstances the eventual numbers were slightly down on the night from the sell out anticipated at one point.
Nevertheless around 220 patrons enjoyed an excellent evening of good food, a drink or two or perhaps even three and superb entertainment.
Frank McAvennie still on cloud nine following one of his former teams West Ham United’s success in Europe last week re-told many a story about his on and off field activities during a colourful career.
Then Eric Davidson now apart from being one of Scotland’s top after Dinner raconteurs, also a top performer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival had the audience in stitches with his repertoire of stories and song.
Who would ever have thought you would have seen 200 plus Forfarians and their guests giving a powerful rendition of I am Forever Blowing Bubbles in tribute to Frank backed by Eric on banjo in the Reid Hall, quite amazing to say the least.
John McKelvie the former Strathclyde policeman turned story teller kept the evening moving along in his Master of Ceremonies role aiding the club coffers by some degree with an auctioneering performance of the five star variety!
All in all another great night and the Directors of Forfar Athletic Football Club without naming individuals as there are to many to mention would just like to put on record their thanks to all who supported this annual fund raising event in any form.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
