Russell McLean moves to the ‘Loons’

Forfar Athletic manager Ray McKinnon is delighted to have secured the services of 25 year old striker Russell McLean on an 18 month contract.
Russell has in fact worn the colours of the ‘Loons’ previously having made three appearances, scoring one goal while on a short term loan from neighbours Montrose in the autumn of 2019.
The six foot five inch tall forward will certainly add a presence to Forfar’s attacking options and will go straight into the squad for the visit of Elgin City on Saturday.
Russell was a product of the Hearts youth academy before moving on to Peterhead where he has had two stints with the ‘Blue Toon’ outfit, Montrose and Dumbarton his other ports of call, prior to signing for Edinburgh City at the start of the current campaign.
He then became a victim of the Capital City club’s well documented financial problems and like quite a few of his team mates agreed to the cancellation of his contract in early December.
In recent weeks he has had three outings for Boness United in the Lowland League. He was certainly in good goal scoring form for the Newton Park side finding the net on four occasions.
A warm welcome back to Russell.
Ray hopes to complete another signing before the weekend, so watch this space as they say.
