Forfar Athletic v The Spartans
[Tuesday, 30 January 2024 13:21]
The Spartans are the visitors to Station Park on Saturday first in the cinch league2.
The Capital City outfit managed by the long serving Dougie Samuel currently sit in fourth place in the league table, although they could move above Dumbarton into third spot with a victory over East Fife tonight (Tuesday) in what is of course their debut season in the SPFL.
The sides drew 2-2 at Station Park in mid September in their first meeting, the home side picking up all three points in the Ainslie Park clash between the teams in early December courtesy of a second half counter.
Ray McKinnon and his players will go into the contest keen to secure what would be only their second home league victory of the season.
Converting goal scoring opportunities has of course been an all to present problem as the season has progressed as emphasised by the fact that only Elgin City of the nine other clubs in the division have as we write netted less goals, while by contrast at the other end of the pitch, only the top four sides have conceded less than the Athies rearguard.
Hopefully that scenario will change this coming weekend.
Saturday’s fixture has the usual 3p.m. kick-off.
Admission prices are as follows;-
