Stranraer v Forfar Athletic – match preview
[Friday, 01 March 2024 11:55]
The ‘Loons’ head to Stranraer tomorrow, on the day due to unavoidable road works a round trip in excess of 400 miles.
The management and players will travel south however on the back of a seven game unbeaten run in the cinch league2 and therefore in confident mood. Manager Ray McKinnon was at the end of the day delighted to pick up a hard earned point at Bayview last Saturday, although slightly disappointed that we did not add to our goal tally before the half time whistle. The Fifers second half showing however merited a share of the spoils come the final whistle.
Finn Robson is again an absentee tomorrow through injury, while a couple of others will require a wee fitness check on arrival at Stair Park.
The home side currently sit four points adrift of the Athies in ninth place in the table, this following a 2-1 defeat at Dumbarton last weekend, Craig Ross having given them an early lead against the ‘Sons’ to no avail in the end.
The previous Saturday on home soil, they lost 2-1 to Spartans, both the Capital City side’s goals coming well into added on time at the conclusion of the contest.
One thing is for certain tomorrow. Andy Munro and his colleagues will head into the game at Stair Park against Scott Agnew’s troops determined to pick up a second three point haul of the season at the venue, goals from Ryan Paterson and Josh Skelly clinching a 2-0 success back in the mid September clash.
A 1-1 draw was the outcome of the meeting between the sides at Station Park in December, Oliver McDonald netting a second half equaliser after Matty Allan had headed the home side in front in a game which the ‘Loons’ totally dominated.
Alastair Grieve will be the man in the middle on Saturday, the second time this season that he has refereed a ‘Loons’ fixture.
